*uploaded what i hope could pass as a more decent photo of this piece, though still not completely satisfied... actual colours are... for lack of a better description, softer-looking in person. lol.
SEVERUS & LILY!!! I could never get over them!
First off, the film "Crime and Punishment in Suburbia" started this (I mean come on... pale, sullen, dark-haired teenage boy -- ring any bells?)
It had almost never gotten finished -- lost steam in the middle of it as Lily gave me such grief. I had to redraw her all over again and actually expected my eraser to rub right through the sheet. Luckily, cartridge paper is unbelievably forgiving with erasures, if not with water (surface immediately starts to wrinkle and fray with more heavy-handed brush strokes (I was just too impatient to wait for proper watercolour paper).
What made me finish is the sudden burst of inspiration from 's "Quiet Desperation" -- a fic I came across thanks to She, too, was inspired to create art from this story.
Quiet Desperation If you haven't read it, what are you waiting for? Clickety-click! [link] (R rating -- just wanted to toss that in for all the kiddies out there. lol) What can I say? In my world, = canon. Thanks so much to both of you.
I just wanted to note that this is the first time I felt brave enough to attempt blue green tints with skin tones. Always wanted to try it ages ago but I was too much of a wuss. Quite happy with how it came out, though. Glad I took the chance.
Again, no scanner. Sorry. Played a bit with the contrast here: [link]
This is great. Would you mind if I used it in a slideshow/video? Was this done with watercolors alone, or did you use pencils(or colored pencils) as well? Looks amazing.
thanks! just used a pencil for the primary sketch, then the rest was all done in watercolors sure! and please do send me a link if you get to use it. i'd like to see the vid, too
i have to say that that fan fic is my fave Snily ever.. im not surprised its prompted so much awesome art. Im always hopeful of coming across more snily fic that is as good.. but so far, not even close!
